Origin Story: Colombia boats a wide range of climates and geographic conditions that, in turn, product their own unique flavours in their coffee. Colombian coffees have been renowned for the full-body, bright acidity and rich aftertaste since the early 19th century. The coffee producers of Colombia consistently ensure that their coffee is of the highest quality, with only the best being permitted to be exported around the world.
We have chosen to commit to this coffee as it is highly traceable, transparent and backed by a project called the Crecer Project, which aligns with our own sustainable sourcing practises.
The Crecer project is funded through the premium that is added to the coffee the producer sells. The project was set up with the aim of conserving both biodiversity of the environment and the communities who live and cultivate coffee within those environments, which in turn increases the quality of the coffee.
About the Artwork:
Illustrator Fiona McDonnell, the artist behind this coffee series, was inspired by the intricate and cultural connections shared between Rwanda, Peru and Colombia. From their bio-diverse farming methods and weather to their cultural celebrations, the artwork showcases the strong relationship between farmer and landscape; whilst highlighting the important balance between work and play. Influenced by the rich heritage of these three countries, Fiona makes clever use of their traditional weaving techniques to marry the elements of each unique culture together in perfect harmony.
